This strategic move aims to enhance Nebius's mission to become the fourth hyperscaler in the cloud computing market by combining Clarifai's expertise in AI system-level inference optimization with Nebius's control over its infrastructure and technical roadmap. Clarifai's team will remain intact, transitioning into roles within Nebius, and will contribute to co-creating a fully optimized hardware and software stack for superior performance. The partnership will also bolster the Nebius Token Factory by integrating Clarifai's system optimization capabilities, complementing Nebius's recent acquisition of Eigen AI, which focuses on model optimization. The collaboration marks a new era of frontier AI research, with Clarifai's Matthew Zeiler taking on the role of SVP Research at Nebius to lead innovative projects in agentic reasoning, multimodal world models, and token efficiency, while legacy aspects of Clarifai, such as its computer vision models and certain U.S. government and defense programs, remain separate from the agreement.
