The protocol's key feature is its decoupling of the client and server, allowing any MCP client to connect with any MCP server seamlessly, much like a web browser accessing any website. Remote MCP servers, which operate over Streamable HTTP and utilize OAuth 2.1 for centralized authentication, provide scalable, team-wide access to shared systems, making them suitable for environments where AI tools require consistent access to real-time data across various platforms. Through this setup, AI applications can autonomously perform tasks such as retrieving and analyzing pipeline data from CircleCI, enhancing workflow efficiency and troubleshooting capabilities without the need for manual input.
