Circle Internet Financial has introduced its tokenized money market fund, USYC, to the Solana blockchain, expanding its availability beyond existing platforms like Base, Canton, Ethereum, and NEAR, with plans for BNB Chain integration. USYC represents shares in a short-duration US government money market fund, allowing real-time redemption to and from USDC, but is restricted to eligible non-US institutional investors who have completed onboarding and wallet allow-listing. Solana's infrastructure supports low-latency transactions and high throughput, making it suitable for integrating USYC as collateral in various digital asset applications such as lending protocols and perpetual DEXs. The integration involves using Solana's Program Library for deterministic settlements, maintaining eligibility controls, and adhering to the fund's daily pricing cadence. Despite its potential, USYC's use is limited to permissioned environments due to its KYC requirements, necessitating additional development for compatibility with DeFi protocols.
