Now Available: USDC, EURC, and CCTP on Cronos
Blog post from Circle
Circle Internet Financial has announced the integration of its stablecoins USDC, EURC, and the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on the Cronos Network, a high-performance, EVM-compatible blockchain supported by Crypto.com. This development aims to enhance Cronos' ecosystem by introducing a trusted and interoperable stablecoin infrastructure that facilitates payments, trading, and decentralized finance (DeFi) use cases. USDC will serve as the settlement layer for the Cronos app, allowing users to trade tokenized stocks, cryptocurrencies, and prediction markets with ease. The inclusion of these stablecoins provides regulated, fully reserved financial solutions, offering seamless integration with apps and protocols on Cronos. CCTP enables secure and efficient movement of USDC across different blockchains, supporting high-performance DeFi and AI-powered transactions. The presence of native USDC and EURC is expected to foster a stable dollar- and euro-denominated ecosystem, support lower-slippage DeFi activities, and enable AI-driven applications suitable for institutional and enterprise needs. As part of this initiative, Cronos also supports a bridged version of USDC, labeled "USDC.e," with plans to migrate its liquidity to the native USDC over time.
