Now Available: Native USDC on Sui
Blog post from Circle
Circle Internet Financial has announced that native USDC is now available on the Sui Mainnet, allowing developers and users to access this stablecoin without the need for bridging. Sui, a layer-1 blockchain known for its speed, security, and scalability, is the first to support native USDC using the Move programming language, which is designed to enhance the development of decentralized applications. This integration facilitates the creation of diverse apps in sectors like DeFi, gaming, and ecommerce. While the bridged form of USDC, known as wUSDC, exists via the Wormhole platform, it is not compatible with Circle's services. The introduction of native USDC aims to provide a stable and trusted foundation for developers, with plans for Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to enable native USDC transfers between blockchains. Businesses and developers can access USDC on Sui for various applications, and migration from bridged to native USDC is supported by the Sui, Mysten Labs, and Wormhole teams.
