Summary

Circle Internet Financial announced that its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) now supports native transfers of EURC, its euro-denominated stablecoin, beginning on Ethereum and Base. Using the same burn-and-mint process already used for USDC, EURC is burned on a source blockchain and newly minted on a destination blockchain, allowing each supported network to hold native rather than bridged EURC. Circle says the expansion gives developers and blockchain ecosystems a unified interoperability framework for both USDC and EURC, reducing the need for separate bridge providers, custom integrations, and differing trust models. CCTP remains a non-custodial messaging infrastructure service, while Circle notes that transfers are irreversible and that users remain exposed to risks including asset volatility and smart-contract, relay, and bridge vulnerabilities.
