This follows a pre-seed funding round from May 2022, led by figures such as Anthony Goldbloom and Nat Friedman. Chroma is designed to facilitate developers in incorporating state and memory into AI applications using embeddings, thereby enabling long-term memory and business logic for LLMs, while preventing hallucinations through embedding-based document retrieval. Launched just five weeks ago, Chroma has already seen significant adoption, with over 35,000 Python downloads in the past month. It offers a user-friendly vector search experience akin to SQLite and is praised for its scalability and ease of use, as noted by Jeremiah Lowin, CEO of Prefect, who recommends it for its flexibility and potential for commercial support.
