"We Watch in Public Spaces," a team comprising Iain Nash and Evan Trumbull, received a $1,000 Judge's Choice Award for creating a blockchain tracking system aimed at enhancing the transparency of event performance metrics. Their innovation addresses a common issue faced by potential event attendees: the uncertainty around event organizers' commitments, such as expected attendance and booth traffic. Using a combination of laser beams, IoT sensors, and low-energy Bluetooth connections, the system tracks attendee movement and relays this data securely to the blockchain via multiple Chainlink oracles. This setup allows for real-time updates and provides verifiable data that can inform advertising rates, sponsorship positions, and ticket pricing, ultimately enabling new smart contract structures based on dynamic billing. The project exemplifies how Chainlink can facilitate robust interactions between smart contracts and off-chain data, enhancing the integration of IoT with blockchain technology.
