Summary

Chainlink has introduced Fulcrum, an end-to-end cross-chain financing and collateral-management solution intended to help institutions use tokenized assets across public and private blockchains without being tied to a single settlement network or financing venue. Designed initially around repurchase agreements but extensible to collateralized loans and similar transactions, Fulcrum allows participants to establish terms such as rates, eligible collateral, haircuts, and rehypothecation restrictions while coordinating cash and collateral settlement across supported networks. It combines Chainlink’s Runtime Environment for workflow orchestration, CCIP for cross-chain messaging and transfers, and Data Streams for collateral valuation and market data, enabling cash release to depend on verified collateral held on another blockchain. Chainlink says the system can support 24/7 operations, near-real-time collateral monitoring, automated margin actions, reduced reconciliation work, and broader use of tokenized securities and cash in secured financing. Fulcrum does not custody assets, serve as a counterparty, or operate a trading venue, as agreements remain governed by integrated venues and their participants; the company also states that it is pursuing integrations with traditional-finance environments and existing venues, including a collaboration involving DTCC’s Collateral AppChain demonstrated at Sibos 2026.
