The ETHGlobal 2021 MarketMake Hackathon showcased the innovative potential of DeFi, with developers using Chainlink’s oracle network to create advanced decentralized applications (dApps). The hackathon featured a prize pool of $5,000, rewarding projects that effectively utilized Chainlink oracles for unique smart contract applications. Among the winners were Audits R Dead, which developed a DeFi insurance protocol for smart contract exploits, DigiU.Lab, which created a decentralized exchange facilitating cross-chain token swaps between Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain, and Gearbox Protocol, which enabled undercollateralized margin trading using secure price data from Chainlink. These projects demonstrated creative uses of Chainlink’s infrastructure to enhance security, cross-chain interoperability, and leverage trading within the DeFi ecosystem.
