Venue Suitability Analysis for the Eurovision Song Contest with CARTO

The Eurovision Song Contest, set to be hosted by the United Kingdom in 2023, has sparked a fierce competition among cities and venues vying for the honor of hosting the event. A venue suitability analysis was conducted using Spatial Data Science, considering four key criteria: capacity, international access, internal access, and accommodation. The top 10 most suitable venues were identified, with Principality Stadium in Cardiff emerging as the winner due to its massive capacity, excellent transport links, and city center location. The analysis was performed in just three seconds using CARTO's cloud-native Spatial SQL, allowing for rapid iteration and customization of the analysis. A visualization tool was used to present the results, enabling users to quickly identify the most suitable venue and explore additional details about each site.
