The Data Observatory has welcomed Mexico into its collection of demographic data, providing a rich array of information from the Mexican Census. This new data includes detailed measures on household access to amenities such as running water and computers. A comparison with New York City was made using the Carto Builder, highlighting differences in car ownership rates between the two cities. In Mexico City, blocks near metro lines and areas with high population density showed no lower rates of car ownership, while areas with high computer ownership had a direct relationship to car ownership. This suggests that having the money to own a car is a greater incentive than poor access to transit.
