Introducing Multilingual Voices
Blog post from Cartesia
Cartesia has introduced Multilingual Voices, offering more than 50 library voices that can speak up to 25 languages natively and allowing custom voice clones to be extended into additional languages and accents while preserving a consistent vocal identity. The company frames voice identity around qualities such as pitch, warmth, texture, pacing, and emphasis, noting that maintaining these characteristics across languages has traditionally required separate actors and could produce inconsistent brand experiences. Voices and accents are evaluated by native speakers for natural pronunciation and localized handling of dates, numbers, and currencies, with use-case-specific scoring intended to match voices to contexts such as customer support, sales, healthcare, meditation, and fraud alerts. Cartesia highlights applications in multilingual housing assistance, memorial voice recreation, and translated instructional content, and users can select supported locales for library voices or create an Instant Voice Clone from at least ten seconds of audio before adding up to nine languages or accents through the dashboard or API.
