Euruko 2022, a volunteer-organized European Ruby conference, was held in Helsinki as a hybrid event after being canceled in 2020 and held virtually in 2021. This year's gathering, hosted at the historic Paasitorni building, attracted over 700 participants from across Europe and beyond for a series of presentations and discussions. The event featured notable keynotes by Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto and Andy Croll, the latter focusing on the often-overlooked contributions of women in computing history. Attendees enjoyed unique Finnish experiences, including saunas and exceptional coffee, while engaging in conversations about Ruby-related topics such as security and performance optimization. The conference also fostered inclusivity and community-building, with initiatives like the WNB.rb group for non-binary and women Rubyists highlighted. The event's friendly and inclusive atmosphere, combined with high-quality content, left a lasting impression on attendees, with plans already underway for the next Euruko in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2023.
