Announcing Buildkite Agent v3.0

Buildkite has introduced several new features and improvements in its latest update, allowing the use of plugins in build steps to simplify and share workflows within the community, with plugins available as open-source or private repositories. The update includes the new buildkite-agent annotate command for adding content to builds, enhancements in pipeline uploads with environment variable substitution, and improved performance and stability through large artifact support and a job runner transition from Bash to Golang for better Windows compatibility. A pre-exit hook has been added to run commands post-job completion regardless of exit status, and the upgrade to version 3 is designed to be backward compatible, with guidance available through an upgrade guide. The release was made possible by contributions from 41 open source contributors, with more details and binaries accessible on GitHub.
