GigCompare is an app that helps gig workers like Uber drivers and Instacart deliverers understand how they are paid by providing a platform for them to estimate their hourly net earnings and compare those earnings with other gig workers operating in their city. The app uses expense averages/benchmarks tracked in its database to calculate these estimates, and it aims to help gig workers make informed decisions about their work and potentially switch to apps that pay more. The app was built on Bubble, a no-code platform that enabled the founder to turn his early stage design mockups into a functioning app in less than 2 weeks, allowing for rapid iteration and feedback from users. With its traction already showing high calculation rates among gig workers, GigCompare plans to expand its level of detail and useful comparison information, potentially including an OCR tool to automate data entry and highlighting which apps are paying most in a given city at any point in time.
