With the rise of remote learning and limited in-person events, a group of McGill University students created StudyDate, an app that matches users based on academic goals or requirements, aiming to facilitate meaningful connections among learners. The app allows users to find peers as mutual friends or dates while working on shared objectives, providing a productive way to build relationships. Users can browse through a directory of registered students, send study mate or date requests, and utilize online study rooms and messaging systems. StudyDate is built on the no-code platform Bubble, which was chosen for its industry-leading reputation, supportive community, and robust teaching programs. The app has observed significant interest in its semi-closed beta phase and plans to launch across colleges in North America by the upcoming fall semester, with future updates and features including peer mentor connections.
