Open Source Spotlight: Git History with Rodrigo Pombo
Blog post from BrowserStack
Rodrigo Pombo is the creator of Git History, a tool that allows users to easily browse the history of files in any GitHub repository. The idea for Git History came about accidentally while Pombo was working on Code Surfer. He found it oddly satisfying to browse file history using just arrow keys and decided to add more features. To grow its user base, he made Git History very easy to use by allowing users to simply change the domain in the URL from "github.com" to "githistory.xyz". The future of Git History includes making it useful for understanding code written by others, particularly in pull requests. Pombo is currently working on a similar concept for tutorials, blogs, docs, and slide decks. He believes that the key to open source sustainability lies in companies providing their services to open source projects for free and offering financial support to contributors.
