Summary

Box Mount, now in private preview, provides AI agent sandboxes with a POSIX-compatible mounted workspace connected to Box, allowing agents and standard file-based tools to read, modify, and create documents through familiar filesystem paths while Box remains the governed system of record. It is intended for document-heavy, multi-step workflows—such as contract review, RFP drafting, compliance analysis, and research synthesis—where files require ongoing synchronization, version handling, human review, and collaboration among multiple agents. Running as a headless component within a customer-provisioned sandbox, Box Mount synchronizes changes in both directions, detects conflicts, performs final sync on unmount, and preserves Box capabilities including permissions, version history, classifications, retention, Shield protections, and auditing. It supports tools and frameworks independent of any specific model, including OpenAI and Anthropic agents, LangGraph, CrewAI, scripts, and command-line applications, provided they can use files. Developers can configure credentials, mount a Box folder, perform normal filesystem operations, inspect mount status, and unmount when complete, while managing sandbox security themselves. Box is inviting developers with sandbox-based agent architectures to join the preview, receive the binary and setup guidance, and test it in their workflows.
