Introducing Box Agent in Apps: Deep agent capability across your workflows

Box has introduced Box Agent in Apps, an autonomous AI reasoning capability embedded in its no-code Box Apps environment to help organizations analyze and act on document-intensive work without moving content to separate tools. Rather than functioning as a basic chatbot or search tool, Box Agent breaks complex requests into subtasks, searches and reads relevant files, extracts key information, compares evidence across multiple documents, and produces traceable answers linked to their sources. In a legal compliance example, it can locate a benefits-provider contract, assess its data-sharing clauses against a new regulation, identify potential gaps or conflicts, and summarize recommended areas for review. The feature operates within Box’s existing permissions, governance, and security controls, allowing users to see what content the agent accesses while retaining access restrictions. Box positions the capability as the next stage of its intelligent content management strategy, following Box Apps and Box Automate, with the goal of turning documents into data-like assets that support automated, context-aware business workflows.
