Summary

The Choctaw Nation, a sovereign tribal government serving more than 225,000 members in southeastern Oklahoma, adopted Box to securely modernize justice, public safety, and other administrative workflows after a Supreme Court-related jurisdiction change increased case volumes from about 200 annually to more than 700 weekly. Replacing paper processes, scattered local files, and email-based handling of sensitive data, the Nation uses Box’s content management, automation, e-signature, AI, and custom application tools to centralize records, control access, and support compliance while reducing risks associated with data breaches. Digital juror check-in, document generation, mileage calculation, and invoice processing reportedly save more than 360 hours annually and speed juror payments, while public defenders can search and analyze discovery materials more efficiently through AI-supported repositories. The employee loan program has reduced processing time from at least 30 days to one pay period, with estimated annual labor savings of 125 to 500 hours, and other departments have digitized forms, agreements, timecards, and financial records. With 23 custom applications, over 70,000 uploaded files, and more than 10,000 documents processed through Box Sign, the Nation views the platform as a way to improve frontline service delivery, safeguard sensitive information, and reinforce its reputation and sovereignty in interactions with external entities.
