BoxWorks 2026: Box brings frontier AI to business workflows, with enterprise context and control
Blog post from Box
At BoxWorks 2026, Box outlined an expanded Intelligent Content Management strategy aimed at connecting enterprise content with AI models, agents, and applications while retaining existing permissions, governance, and compliance controls. Key announcements include Box Context Retrieval, an upcoming NVIDIA Nemotron-powered search capability that combines keyword and semantic retrieval to supply agents with relevant, authorized company information, and Box Architect, an AI tool intended to design, build, and refine workflows from business goals using content, agents, and human approvals. Box also introduced security enhancements for AI agent activity, including classification-based access policies, MCP Guardrails, threshold alerts, audit trails, and adaptive responses to potential threats. Upcoming Box Mount will allow agents to work directly with Box folders in secure sandbox environments, while Box for Industries will provide tailored workflows and integrations for banking, public sector, and media and entertainment organizations. Additional planned capabilities include improvements to Box Extract, records management, and automated content archiving.
