Summary

Box Zones has expanded with new generally available regions in Switzerland, Singapore, and Israel, giving Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced customers access to in-region storage across 10 locations, including Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The service is intended to support data residency requirements by keeping both stored content and, where available, processing activities within a selected region, with France and Canada scheduled to receive in-region processing for uploads, downloads, encryption, file representations, and zipping in mid-September. Administrators can assign users to Zones through the Admin Console, multizone single sign-on mappings, or the Box Developer API, while Box automatically migrates content in the background. Box plans to add in-region metadata processing later in 2026 and localized storage and processing for Box AI, workflows, and search in 2027, while malware scanning through Box Shield is currently available only in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and Japan.
