Box welcomes the enforcement of the E.U.-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

Box is committed to protecting customer privacy and facilitating lawful data transfers, particularly following the Court of Justice of the European Union's invalidation of the Privacy Shield in 2020. Despite this invalidation, Box maintained its certification under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield frameworks and supported the principles involved. With the introduction of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF) by the European Commission on July 11, 2023, Box plans to certify to this new framework by the October 10, 2023, deadline, as well as to the UK and Swiss extensions of the DPF. This certification allows Box to continue cross-border data transfers in compliance with EU law without requiring any action from its customers. Box will also maintain its Standard Contractual Clauses and Binding Corporate Rules, ensuring robust data protection as the regulatory environment evolves.
