Why we chose not to look like every other company in Silicon Valley
Blog post from Blacksmith
Blacksmith, founded in 2024 to provide a high-performance CI cloud for GitHub Actions, has introduced Blacksmith 2.0 as part of a rebranding effort intended to make continuous integration more visible and appealing in a technology sector often characterized by similar visual identities and cautious branding. The initiative was driven by the view that infrastructure products such as CI are essential but frequently overlooked, and that distinctiveness is necessary for a company to be memorable. After identifying the work of new agency You Little Beauty through LinkedIn, Blacksmith collaborated with its founders, whose fashion backgrounds offered a perspective outside conventional tech design. With approval from Blacksmith’s founders, the team spent two months developing the new identity, including a prominent yellow color choice, based on the belief that brand is often the first impression for investors, prospective employees, and customers.
