Summary

Barndoor AI Gateway now natively supports decision models, also known as System 1 classifiers, which return structured choices, probabilities, or scores rather than generating long-form text. TypeSafe’s Jev can be accessed directly through the gateway using compatible API routes and formats, or used within routing policies to classify requests and select the most suitable downstream language model. In tests of model routing, Jev reportedly matched Claude Haiku’s decision quality while operating about seven times faster and at lower cost. By supporting classifier models through its existing gateway infrastructure, Barndoor applies the same policy enforcement, data-protection checks, spend tracking, logging, and audit trails used for LLM traffic, while allowing other compatible decision models to be integrated similarly.
