Introducing metrics: High-cardinality without the cost

Axiom has introduced Metrics for public preview, expanding its observability platform to include metrics alongside logs and traces, thus supporting all three pillars of observability. Built on the custom datastore, MetricsDB, Axiom can ingest and query OpenTelemetry metrics at a petabyte scale with hyper cardinality, avoiding cost and performance issues typical of traditional metrics stores. This integration allows teams to manage and analyze metrics, logs, and traces within Axiom’s console, eliminating the need to switch between tools and providing a unified view of system performance. Specifically designed to handle billions of unique time series without cost penalties, MetricsDB leverages the architecture of Axiom's EventDB to offer efficient storage and querying capabilities. During the public preview, teams can use the service for free, providing feedback to help Axiom refine the product before general release.
