Zed is a command line interface (CLI) tool that allows users to interact with their SpiceDB cluster, enabling features such as switching between clusters, writing and reading schemas, relationships, and checking permissions. The tool can be launched as a standalone binary or as a Docker container. Recent improvements in version 0.30.2 include the addition of support for compiling and validating composable schemas, automatic retries, a new `zed backup` command, and publishing to Chocolatey for Windows users. Future updates will add support for a new test syntax in schema files, allowing users to validate their schema and relationships. The development team is actively improving zed and encourages users to report issues or suggest new features through the GitHub repository.
