Introducing the SpiceDB Playground Assistant
Blog post from AuthZed
An AI assistant has been integrated into the SpiceDB Playground to expedite the development of permission models by facilitating schema creation, relationship data generation, permission checks, and error explanations through conversational interaction, all without leaving the browser. This tool enhances the Playground's existing capabilities, which include running a real build of SpiceDB via WebAssembly and providing example schemas for inspiration. The Assistant offers a more intuitive learning experience compared to traditional documentation by enabling users to ask questions about permissions modeling and schema design, automatically generating and validating schema edits, and maintaining a revision history for easy iteration and optimization. It also allows users to troubleshoot and optimize their models by providing detailed traces of permission checks and suggestions for best practices. The Assistant is part of the broader spicedb-dev plugin, which integrates with coding agents like Claude Code or Codex, allowing users to transition from design to application integration seamlessly.
