Summary

AuthZed has announced the general availability of Materialize for its Dedicated Cloud customers, a service that improves SpiceDB authorization performance by precomputing and continuously updating expensive transitive relationship queries. Intended for large enterprise and AI workloads, including RAG pipelines and autonomous agents, Materialize addresses the growing cost and latency of authorization checks across complex graphs involving users, roles, groups, resources, and organizational hierarchies. Rather than recalculating complex permissions for each request, it serves precomputed results while incorporating live relationship changes and periodic snapshots to preserve consistency. AuthZed says the managed service can provide single-digit-millisecond responses, supports models with billions of relationships, and allows organizations to scale authorization without operating additional distributed infrastructure.
