Increasing the DPI of an Image Only Works If You Add Real Pixels First

Changing an image’s DPI or PPI value alone does not add detail because it only changes how densely existing pixels are placed on a printed page, reducing the physical print size when resolution is raised without resampling. Achieving a sharper print at a chosen size requires enough pixels, calculated by multiplying the intended dimensions in inches by the target PPI; while 300 PPI is commonly used for high-quality printing, around 220 PPI may be sufficient for many inkjet photo prints.
