Airflow, now available within ChatGPT
Blog post from Astronomer
Astronomer, in collaboration with OpenAI, has introduced the astronomer-data plugin for ChatGPT, enabling users to manage self-hosted or managed Apache Airflow environments directly through ChatGPT Work or Codex using natural-language requests. The plugin can retrieve task logs, diagnose and propose fixes for failed DAGs, create and test new pipelines following team conventions, deploy changes, query connected warehouses, validate pipeline results, trace data lineage, manage Astro projects, and support migrations to Airflow 3 or from other orchestrators. It supports databases including Snowflake, BigQuery, and Postgres, and is built on the open-source Airflow MCP server and skills from Astronomer’s agents repository, which are available to both Astro customers and open-source Airflow users. Astronomer recommends Codex for use with the plugin because some capabilities rely on local tools such as the Astro CLI, while positioning its managed platform as providing additional features including Otto, deployment support, and observability.
