Apollo Federation is an open-source technology for composing multiple GraphQL services into a unified data graph, enabling teams to scale their GraphQL API from a single team to a shared asset serving the whole company. A major update to Apollo's commercial platform introduces managed federation, which adds support for seamlessly building, managing, and querying federated graphs like monolithic schemas. The Graph Manager is a complete solution to help teams coordinate updating the graph whenever an underlying service changes, with features such as analytics, diagnostics, federated service checks, and managed service deployments.
