Anthropic and NEC collaborate to build Japan’s largest AI engineering workforce
Blog post from Anthropic
NEC Corporation is collaborating with Anthropic to establish one of Japan's largest AI-native engineering organizations, leveraging Anthropic's AI tools, including Claude, Claude Opus 4.7, and Claude Code, for approximately 30,000 NEC Group employees worldwide. This partnership marks NEC as Anthropic's first global partner based in Japan and focuses on developing secure, industry-specific AI products tailored for the Japanese market, targeting sectors such as finance, manufacturing, and local government. NEC is integrating Claude into its Security Operations Center services to bolster cybersecurity defenses and is also incorporating it into their next-generation cybersecurity service. Internally, NEC plans to establish a Center of Excellence to develop a skilled AI-enabled workforce, using Claude Code within their engineering teams and expanding its use of Claude Cowork across their operations. This initiative is part of NEC's Client Zero strategy, where they implement and refine technologies internally before offering them to external clients, aligning with NEC's value-creation model through their BluStellar program.
