An Overview of the Kubernetes Gateway API and Envoy Gateway

The Kubernetes Gateway API and Envoy Gateway are two emerging technologies that aim to improve ingress management in Kubernetes clusters. The Gateway API is a specification and set of Custom Resource Definitions designed for handling traffic ingress, while Envoy Gateway is an implementation of the Gateway API based on the Envoy Proxy project. Both projects have gained significant interest from various organizations, including Ambassador Labs, which has joined the steering committee for Envoy Gateway. The adoption of these technologies represents a broad acceptance of ideas brought forth by Emissary-Ingress and is expected to greatly enhance traffic management in Kubernetes environments.
