Istio, Lyft Envoy, and Microservices

Istio is a service mesh for microservices built on Lyft Envoy, adding resilience and observability without requiring bespoke engineering. Istio's inaugural 0.1 release marks a significant milestone in its development, with the support of key players like Lyft, Google, and IBM. The Edge Stack API Gateway integrates seamlessly with Istio, enabling organizations to route external traffic into an Istio-powered service mesh while extending layer 7 resilience, observability, and security to the edge.
