The adoption of Kubernetes and microservices-based architecture introduces new challenges at the boundary between end users and internal services, known as the "edge". Managing a large number of independent microservices with diverse architectures poses significant scaling issues for edge management. Additionally, the edge must support a broad range of protocols and configuration requirements to accommodate various service implementations, such as HTTP, gRPC, and WebSocket APIs.
