Open Source Program Office at Aiven: A year later

Aiven's Open Source Program Office (OSPO) has been active for a year, focusing on contributing to open source projects and fostering an open-source culture within the company. The team members focus on specific projects such as Apache Kafka®, Apache Flink®, PostgreSQL®, M3, or OpenSearch®. Their responsibilities include contributing to OSS projects, fostering an OSS culture within Aiven, ensuring legal compliance, and contributing to third-party OSS projects. The lessons learned during this first year at OSPO include hiring the right talent, adopting a suitable management style, and rethinking performance reviews for open source contributions.
