Summary

Karapace is an open-source tool developed by Aiven as a replacement for Apache Kafka REST and the Schema Registry. It provides 1:1 compatibility with existing Confluent Schema Registry and Apache Kafka REST proxy, working on both client and server sides. With moderate memory consumption and built with an asynchronous architecture, Karapace is lightweight and stable. Its functionality includes a central repository for storing schemas, serialization and deserialization of messages, version history of Kafka schemas, and a RESTful interface for your Kafka cluster. Aiven encourages contributions to the project and provides resources on how to get started with Karapace.
