Voices of Airwallex: Olivia Tang

Olivia, a Shanghai-based Senior Product Manager on Airwallex’s GTPN team, manages the end-to-end customer experience for cross-border payments and joined the company in 2019 seeking the visible impact and broad responsibilities of a fast-growing startup. She values Airwallex’s fast-paced environment, opportunities for growth, and supportive colleagues, who have encouraged her competitive freediving pursuits. Less than a year after beginning freediving, Olivia represented China at the CMAS World Championships in Kuwait, set the Chinese national record in Dynamic No Fins, and later broke two additional national records at the AIDA World Championships in Jeju. Inspired by her lifelong interest in the ocean and prominent freedivers, she attributes her rapid progress to structured practice, discipline, mental preparation, and support from coaches, family, and the freediving community. She has addressed fear and panic associated with extreme breath-hold diving through meditation and visualization, applying the resilience, continual improvement, and willingness to challenge limits developed in the sport to her work in fintech.
