Voices of Airwallex: Andrew Eggleton, Director of Security Engineering
Blog post from Airwallex
After a 15-year Australian Army career involving information, radio, satellite, integrated communications, and cybersecurity systems, an Airwallex Information Security team member transitioned to technology because of a longstanding interest in innovation and technical problem-solving. Joining Airwallex in Melbourne in 2021 after a cybersecurity role with Palantir, the employee helped support a rapidly growing security program through initiatives including improved Okta single sign-on, infrastructure security, and incident-response processes. Outside work, a background in adventure sports and sailing led to participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, inspired by a friend’s circumnavigation and resumed after COVID-related disruption. The sailor will join Team Zhuhai for the demanding 5,500-mile Cape Town-to-Fremantle leg through the Southern Ocean’s Roaring Forties, following extensive training in offshore safety, navigation, meteorology, racing, and tactics, while fundraising for UNICEF. Experience building resilient, inclusive, high-performing teams in military and technology settings is viewed as directly relevant to the endurance race’s challenges, with the participant especially anticipating open-ocean sailing and clear night skies.
