The AI Era Has No Home Market. Build Accordingly.
Blog post from Airwallex
Airwallex announced a new financing round led by Addition that values the company at $11 billion, with participation from several existing and new investors, to support its expansion of AI-focused financial products. The company argues that AI is enabling smaller businesses and individual founders to operate globally but that cross-border payments, multicurrency management, compliance, licensing, and local banking integrations still require substantial financial infrastructure. Airwallex says it has built this foundation over 10 years through more than 85 licenses, integrations with 160 local payment networks, and payout capabilities in over 200 countries and regions. Its new initiatives include T:0, a private-beta AI-native platform intended to automate bookkeeping, forecasting, taxes, compliance, and reporting for businesses from their inception, and Airi, a one-click checkout product that the company says improved merchant conversion by 14% in early testing and is intended to develop into a regulated wallet for AI agents. Airwallex plans to use these products, alongside its existing infrastructure and Agentic Commerce Suite, to support AI-driven global business formation and agentic commerce.
