Airwallex’s Expense Policy Agent is an AI-powered feature within Airwallex Spend designed to automatically review card expenses and reimbursements against company policies at submission, reducing reliance on manual approver judgment and lengthy policy documents. It supports global organizations through layered entity-specific policies, multilingual receipt and policy evaluation, and foreign-exchange-aware limits based on historical rates. Companies can upload existing policies or generate policies from best practices, while administrators retain control through overrides, persistent exceptions, hidden internal notes, and testing before rollout; the company states that customer policies and data are not used to train shared models. During early-access testing involving 150,000 evaluations, Airwallex reports that up to 73% of expenses required no human review and that its verified decisions aligned with human approvers 99.4% of the time. The product is rolling out globally to Grow and Accelerate customers, with planned additions including workflow-based automatic approvals for low-risk expenses and policy-based employee guidance for questions such as travel spending limits.
