Aerospike Database 8.2.0: The expression language becomes part of the database
Blog post from Aerospike
Aerospike Database 8.2.0 introduces server-side improvements aimed at developer usability, operating costs, and cluster maintenance. Its new Aerospike Expression Language lets developers write readable text-based expressions for filtering, projections, and updates, while preserving compatibility with existing builder-based client expressions; the server can also choose suitable secondary indexes based on live statistics, reducing application dependence on index topology. The release adds 37 server-side Unicode-aware string functions and optional structured error details with stable subcodes, messages, and expression traces. For multi-availability-zone Enterprise deployments, replication and migration compression, including delta replication, can reduce cross-zone network traffic and costs. Enterprise users can also preview index checkpoints, which persist index state during planned shutdowns so restarted nodes can recover at warm-restart speeds even after host or container replacement. Additionally, Aerospike command-line tools are now distributed as signed Debian and RPM packages, while new Java, Python, and Rust clients, Voyager, and agent-oriented resources expand support for the shared expression language and database development workflows.
