Aerospike 4.5: Persistent Memory and Compression

Aerospike has released its 4.5 version, which supports Intel's Optane DC persistent memory technology, a new class of storage designed for data-intensive applications that require low latency, high durability, and strong consistency. Aerospike's open database architecture natively supports multiple programming languages, including Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, and Go. The company has extensively tested Intel Optane DC P4800X Series, which is recommended for high write loads. In testing, Aerospike has observed minimal performance difference when using Intel Optane DC persistent memory for indexes compared to DRAM instances. Compression is also supported in this release, with three different mechanisms available (Snappy, LZ4, and Zstandard), enabling real-time compression on a per-namespace basis. The company recommends testing with production data to determine the impact of each compressor.
