Data Products V2 and the Python SDK: The Consumption Surface for Trusted Data
Blog post from Acceldata
ADOC 26.7.0 introduces Data Products V2, which separates the read-only Marketplace for consumer discovery and evaluation from the management interface used by product owners to create, govern, version, and control access to products, including independently assignable Modify and Delete permissions. Embedded lineage now connects data products to upstream assets, producing pipelines and runs, correlated quality policies, and downstream Power BI and Tableau reports, allowing consumers and owners to evaluate provenance, health, and change impact directly within the product view. The generally available acceldata-sdk-python, generated from OpenAPI specifications, provides typed resource APIs, configurable retry handling, and programmatic access to the same pipeline-to-quality trust information for automated and agentic systems. Pipeline-to-policy correlation requires pipelines to supply a pipeline_run_id and quality policies to reference it, enabling auditable verification of the specific run and checks behind consumed data. Migration from the legacy SDK requires Python 3.10 or later, an updated client import and resource-oriented calls, while deprecated single cron and top-level schedule fields must be migrated to cronExpressions before support ends in version 26.10.0 in October 2026.
