Initial "Getting Started" examples should be simple, focusing on minimizing the time to achieve a successful API interaction, known as the "Time to First Hello World" (TTFHW). As developers become more familiar with the API, more detailed workflow examples should illustrate common use cases with clear inline comments and intuitive variable names. Additionally, error handling and rate-limiting examples are crucial for integrating APIs into production environments. Code examples should be accessible, whether embedded in the OpenAPI definition, hosted on static sites like Jekyll or Hugo, or through third-party platforms such as Readme.io. By providing these resources, API teams can enhance the developer experience, reducing frustration and increasing the likelihood of successful integration.
