December 2016 Summaries

We're excited to share our progress and vision for Strapi's future. Last year was a great success with many awesome feedback on our features, especially the dashboard and API Builder. However, we realized that making Strapi only available through a SaaS platform was not the right choice. We've refocused our vision to make Strapi fully open-source, more flexible, and easy-to-use. To support our development, we created a French company called "Strapi Solutions" and joined an incubator based in Paris. This will enable us to improve the project with professional help and accelerate its growth. Our goal is to create a strong community-driven platform with a powerful plugins system, making it a great starting point for building and managing APIs.

The recent "Inside box" article discusses the development progress of Strapi, focusing on the prerelease of its alpha version, which showcases significant advancements despite some delays. Notably, the framework now supports a dashboard capable of handling plugins, marking a major milestone, although the dashboard remains largely undeveloped. The decision to maintain separate state stores for plugins and the dashboard is under consideration, with the team welcoming community feedback on this. Contributions have been simplified by implementing Lerna to manage the mono-repository, encouraging easier involvement from the community.
