Sail announced that it has raised $80 million in total funding, including a Sequoia Capital-led seed round and a Series A led by Kleiner Perkins, with participation from investors such as Redpoint Ventures, Theory Ventures, Vine Ventures, CRV, A*, and Abstract, as well as prominent individual angels. The company is building infrastructure for long-horizon AI agents, offering low-cost inference for open models and durable sandbox environments intended to run workloads for days or weeks. Sail says its approach combines chip selection, custom inference engines, and a global fleet controller to improve utilization and reduce the cost-latency tradeoff, potentially allowing less time-sensitive agents to use substantially more compute per dollar. It is already working with companies including Parallel, Detail, Jack and Jill AI, and Quadrillion on agent deployments involving trillions of tokens, and its team draws experience from NVIDIA, OpenAI, Google, and trading firms.

Sail Voyages is a beta telemetry and observability system for long-running AI agent workflows, designed to create durable, human-readable records of agents, model calls, sandbox commands, errors, artifacts, and execution spans. Built into Sail’s inference and Sailbox sandbox platform, it aims to reduce silent failures and simplify tracing by automatically attributing work without separate collectors, correlation headers, or extensive instrumentation. Developers can use lightweight SDK decorators to label agents and workflow phases, then compare versioned runs through dashboards showing success rates, durations, error patterns, and histories as prompts, models, or agent architectures change. Sail has also released an Agent Skills package for Claude Code and Codex that helps coding agents build observable Sail-based workflows from prompts, demonstrated through a research-agent task that generated sourced analysis, a report, and a chart while recording each step. Voyages is included free with Sail accounts during its beta period.
