Today we’re thrilled to officially announce our company’s new name: Redis. Since 2012, the developer community has known us as Garantia Data or by the names of our popular services, Redis Cloud and Memcached Cloud (even better). This new name is a natural step for our continued engagement with the Redis and NoSQL community, reflecting our commitment to making Redis one of the leading databases of choice among developers. The company was previously known as Garantia Data but had used the name RedisDB in 2013 due to $9M in Series A funding. After listening to the community’s concerns about potential confusion between the open-source project and the company name, they decided to revert back to their original name. With the new name change, the corporate identity remains unchanged, ensuring the same great service for both Redis Cloud and Memcached Cloud services. The popular Memcached Cloud service is still committed, powered by a Redis engine and proprietary dynamic clustering technology.

Today we are pleased to kick off 2014 with the announcement of the immediate availability of Redis Cloud & Memcached Cloud services off two additional AWS data regions: We’ve added these regions to our services to meet the demand for regions other than AWS’s us-east-1 and eu-west-1, where many active users already exist. The addition of new regions allows developers to create cloud instances in seconds and start using them immediately by changing their connection endpoint. This move is part of Redis's plans for a pivotal year ahead, with more updates and announcements expected. Developers can find details on pricing and plans at www.redis.com/pricing.
